He has been ridden through large subdivisions, up and down busy highways, and around the outskirts of a small town. He has been shown at local fun shows in various classes, from the baby bottle contest to musical feed sacks, balloon pop, egg and spoon class, and water glass class. He has been camping and ridden in several states. He just came back from a week-long camping trip at the annual Knott County ride where there were over 5000 people, telling how many horses, campfires, wagons, golf carts, ATVs, a live band, tents, generators… pretty much anything that you can think of! Checkers are easy to clip, bath, tack-up, load, and handle. Checkers has a super smooth gaited and moves out quickly in that smooth 4-beat gait! He is always super smooth regardless of the rider! No matter where he goes or what he does, Checkers is not spooky acting. On the trails he is always great! He has been exposed to various wildlife, such as deer, turkeys, or other animals like cows or dogs, and will go anywhere he is asked to. He has ridden miles in the Eastern Kentucky mountains and encountered every obstacle on the trail. He will go up or down even the steepest slopes, across deep creeks, over downed trees, and all rough terrain while still being sure-footed. He has been riding in traffic, and is very traffic safe around cars, semi, log, and dump trucks.
