Boutique breeding program founded by Heidi Humphrey, driven by a deep passion for ponies. This journey began with one special pony, Delphine, whose exceptional qualities ignited Heidi’s enthusiasm. Imported from Germany, Delphine was an incredibly willing, elastic mover with a kind temperament and impeccable conformation. Heidi recognized that Delphine’s wonderful traits should be passed on, and this inspired her to start importing other ponies to build the foundation for HH Sport Ponies. One of these imports, Goldjunge, is out of the same dam as Delphine, continuing that sought-after bloodline in today’s stock.

At the heart of Heidi’s breeding philosophy is temperament. It’s essential that her ponies are easy to handle and gentle with both the handler and rider. This is especially important for ponies, as they are often ridden by smaller or younger riders, as well as older individuals who may be physically more vulnerable. The next priority is movement—ponies must move forward with freedom in the shoulder, tracking up, and maintaining a clear rhythm. Heidi also places great emphasis on correct conformation in every breeding pairing or import, striving for excellence in each generation.

Sport ponies

In addition to these qualities, HH Sport Ponies believes in providing a balanced feeding regimen and ample turnout for their young stock. Most of the ponies are raised at Diel Dressage, under the expert care of Harry, Adria, and Shane Diel, where they thrive and receive excellent training. It truly takes a great team to nurture and produce quality ponies, and Heidi’s program is no exception.
